Squiggle and Pixie and I go shopping to get the stuff for their costumes for the show on Thursday. It’s the dress rehearsal tomorrow, so I haven’t left myself much time.
We go to Hobbycraft. Fantastic shop for those of us who like paper. Squiggle and Pixie think its great too: such a lot of things to touch. It’s not the cheapest of places, but I have a voucher. If I spend £15, I get £3 off. So I buy lots of three cardboard boxes for the children to paint, stand on and then throw in the bin and two bags of hamma beads for them to drop on the floor and then sweep up into the bin, to make up the required total. We get to the till and the total is only £14.50 and so I feel obliged spend another £1 on foam we will never use to get it over the required limit.
We then go and do the big weekly shop. I have got a list, which I stick to, in an attempt to spend less than £100. We get to the checkout. The assistant is having a bad day and smashes Hub’s beer and then tells everyone within earshot that it wasn’t her fault. She helpfully packs the first half of the shopping and then I repack it so that frozen burgers, the shower gel and the sellotape are not in the same bag. The bill comes to £111.
